Ranch the Western Way

Imagine yourself in a cozy cabin on 500 acres near beautiful Pinantan Lake with the forest at your doorstep. This is Jandana Ranch, complete with 45 horses that roam the hills along with coyotes, deer, moose, black bears, grouse and other wildlife. At Jandana Ranch they practice Natural Horsemanship – your horse will teach you how to effectively communicate with them and become their partner. Once you’ve mastered that, it’s off to explore the North Thompson Valley backcountry on horseback. You can hike, fish and swim the day away or pitch in and help out with the daily operations.  At night, gather ‘round the fire, kick back and breathe in the fresh North Thomson Valley air.

Dave and Janice Jarvis: Your Hosts

After the birth of their daughter, Daena, Dave and Janice Jarvis decided it was time to make a change. In 1992 they quit their good jobs, gave up their benefits, pension plans and RSPs and decided to build their dream ranch. They found their dream location in the beautiful mountain country of Pinantan Lake. Today, they share their dream come true with visitors, guests, adventure seekers, horsemen, and artists of all ages.

They understand that not all people love horses and that many are afraid of them. In part, their all ages lessons teaches people how to get over their negative experiences with horses, and understand the horse for what it is, an animal with a flight instinct. Once you’ve completed the training your horse will not only want to be with you, it will look to you for leadership. You’ll leave the North Thompson Valley feeling like a true horse whisperer.
